Adding a link

Starting from CNCat 3.1, there are two modes of a link addition. The new mode "Several steps" mode allows checking backward link presence upon adding a site to the catalogue. The mode is selected in the section "Administration - Settings - Link addition".

"One form" mode

"One form" mode allows checkin a link upon its adding (see "Administration - Settings - Link addition".

"), hovewer, it is impossible to check backward link presence. Upon adding a link, the user is offered one or more variants of backward links (see Backward links), which he can place at the site.

To add a link one should click on Submit a site link in the menu bar; the following dialog box will appear on the screen:

Link addition

Select at least one category in the pop-up menu (on adding a link for the first time administrator should create at least one category beforehand), enter the name of the link, the site address, define the e-mail address and give a brief description of the link contents; then enter the number displayed in a picture (protection from automatic links submission), and press "Add".

In case all the data have been entered correctly, the system will display a confirmation message.

Confirmation of successful link addition

Note: Maximum number of categories is defined by the administrator.

Note 2: "Full description" and "Keywords" fields are not mandatory; the administrator can disable them if necessary. All the other fields must be obligatory filled in. In case any field is left empty, a warning message will appear on the screen with the list of missed values.

Note 3: One can allocate HTML-code, which will be displayed at the page without changes (with all tags) in "Description" and "Full description" fields . To perform this, one should insert "[html]" at the beginning of the description, for instance: "[html]<b>This</b><i>is</i><u>the best</u><a href=''>site</a>". The given text will be displayed as it is in the administrative interface.

"Several steps" mode

In this mode a link addition is performed in 2 or 3 steps.

Step 1: Entering the name and the site address, as well as pictures with figures for protecction from automatic submission by robots.

Step 1 of a link addition

After the first step the link is checked automatically, in case the corresponding option is enabled in the settings ("Check a link upon adding").

The link is placed to "Administration - Drafts" section. Thus, the link identifier is created, which is used for backward links code generation.

Step 2: Entering and checking a backward link

Step 2 of a link addition

The step is performed in case the option "Link addition - URL of the page with a backward link" is enabled, or a backward link presence is required at a certain term of a link addition. "Omit this step" button is available in case a backward link presence is not necessary. After the second step the backward link is checked automatically, in case the corresponding option is enabled in the settings ("Check a link upon adding").

Step 3: Filling in other fields

Step 3 of a link addition

The step is similar to "One form" mode. After the step, the link is placed to "New" or "Submitted" section, depending on the settings ("Link addition -> Submit a link automatically").
