Installation

CNCat installation

To install CNCat one should do the following:

1. Download CNCat from official site;
2. Unpack the archive and place the files to any directory of your site (it is possible to install CNCat into a root directory). Upon file loading one should switch on BINARY MODE in the ftp-client;
3. Run the installer by defining a path to install.php file in the browser address box, for instance, http://www.server.com/cncat/install.php; the following dialog box should appear on the screen:

4. Select the required language and press "Next...";
   Note: Upon choosing the language, character set is selected for database functioning (see below).
5. Further, database and administrator's settings dialog box will be displayed:

6. Enter the following data:
   • MySql: server, login, password - data required for the MySql server connection. Enter oner own data or data given by oner hosting providers or database administrators;
   • Database name (it is possible to choose any). If there is no database, it will be created;
   • Table prefix - prefix for the catalogue tables; "cncat_" is recommended;
   • Connection's character set - define the desired character encoding for database connection (keep the default value if you are not sure). If Russian letters will be displayed as question-marks, you should comment this string or define other coding.
     Note: In case non-empty value is set, "SET NAMES <character set>" and "SET CHARACTER SET <character set>" commands are executed for connection with the database.
   • Administrator's data - login and password for access to the administrative functions.
7. After clicking the "Next" button all necessary tables will be created in the database. If the database does not exist, the installation script will try to create it;
8. Then the contents of config.php , _top.php, and _bottom.php files will be displayed; one should create them manually in CNCat folder and insert these dataņ:

9. Delete install.php from the server;
10. To start working with a catalogue one should indicate the path to the installed program in the browser, for instance, http://www.server.com/cncat/, otherwise click on the link in the installation form.

Note: It is recommended to set access rights for config.php, _top.php, and _bottom.php. The following commands should be used for this purpose:

chmod 644 config.php
chmod 644 _top.php
chmod 644 _bottom.php 

Updating

To update a current version one should perform the following succession of actions:

• Export the catalogue contents (see Export&Import);
• Download the new version distribution kit;
• Install the application according to the algorithm described above;
• Import the catalogue contents (see Export&Import).
