CNCat 3.1 / User manual
Administration - Backward links
Backward links are links to the catalogue from added sites. Backward links allow raising the catalogue rating
in the search systems. Besides, one may accumulate the statistics of jumps to the catalogue by means of
backward links.
The administrator can set one or more variants of backward links, which will be offered while adding a site to the catalogue.
CNCat allows checking a backward link presence at the user's site automatically.
Checking may be performed by one of three terms for each variant of a backward link:
- Availability of the specified HTML-code at the site page;
- Availability of a link formed as <a href="URL">...</a>, where URL is a backward link, at the site page;
- Availability of a substring, satisfying to the set expression in Perl format, at the site page.
Upon adding a link, a user is offered the list of backward links variants. At that:
- Links are displayed in order of the value "Sorting order" ascending, then in order of addition to the list.
- In case "Do not display upon adding" option is set for the link, then the link will not be displayed in
the list, but will be used at the automatic checking.
To simplify backwards link creation process, one can use special parameters:
- %BACKURL% - backward URL for the catalogue for the current site, allowing accumulating the statistics of jumps
from the site to the catalogue;
- %CATNAME% - the catalogue name;
- %SITEID% - the site identifier.
For example, a backward link code, diaplayed to a user, may be as follows:
- <a href="%BACKURL%">%CATNAME%</a>
This code will be converted to the following one for the user
(depending on the server' and the catalogue name):
- <a href="http://www.server.com/cncat/from.php?2744">"The site statistics" - a trustworthy resourses catalogue</a>
The above-mentionted parameters can be used for all settings of a backward link, except for a set expression.
