Administration - Settings

Parameters

The administrative section "Parameters" is intended for the catalogue settings management.

Appearance


The catalogue interface settings

ParameterDescription
The catalogue name The catalogue name, displayed at the page header.
Categories sorting Sorting of the categories list - by name only; in the assigned order, then by name. The order depends on the option "Sorting order" in the category editing (see Category edition).
Number of rows for category display The list of categories is displayed in several columns. The parameter indicates the number of rows in each column. If 0 is defined, then the number of rows is set automatically according to the number of categories.
Display subcategories The parameter defines whether to display subcategories in the categories list. Possible values are:
  • Do not display;
  • Only in the main page;
  • On all pages.
Number of displayed subcategories Maximum number of displayed subcategories for each category.
Display parent categories section on the main page The parameter displays path to the current category (9) at the main page.
Number of links on a page Number of links displayed on a page. Navigation between pages is performed with the help of pages list (10).
Default sorting by Default order of the links sorting.
Display links on the main page Option allowing displaying the complete links list on the main page.
Display «New links» section on the main page Option allowing displaying «New links» section on the main page.
Number of links in «New links» section Number of links displayed in «New links» section.
Display a link to the resource detailed description Option allowing displaying [+] icon after a link description. On clicking it the link detailed description will be displayed on a new page.

Link addition


Link addition settings

ParameterDescription
Links addition mode Choosing links addition mode - "One form" and "Several steps" (see Adding a link).
"Several steps" mode allows checking backward link presence upon adding a site to the catalogue. In "One form" mode a backward link is not checked.
Check a link upon adding If this option is enabled, a link will be checked automatically upon adding to the catalogue.
Accept links The terms of links acception to the catalogue according to the results of automatic checking. If a term is not fulfilled, then the user can not add a link. Possible values:
  • All - accept all links regardless of the checking results;
  • Only working links - a link is accepted only in case it has been checked for efficiency;
  • Only working links with a backward link - a link is accepted in case it has been checked for efficiency and there is a backward link to the catalogue set at the site.
    Note: this option is available only in "Several steps" mode.
Submit a link automatically The terms of automatic links submission. If a term is not fulfilled, the link is placed to "New" category. Possible values:
  • Never - do not submit links automatically;
  • All - submit regarldess of the checking results;
  • Only working links - a link is submitted only in case it has been checked for efficiency;
  • Only working links with a backward link - a link is submitted in case it has been checked for efficiency and there is a backward link to the catalogue set at the site.
    Note: this option is available only in "Several steps" mode.
A backward link should be located at the same server (domain) Check the server name at the URL of the page containing a backward link - it should coinside with the name of the direct link server.
Do not add if URL already exists Check the link presence in the catalogue. A link will not be added in case it has been already submitted or is located at "New" or "Deleted".
The text before the addition form (HTML) License agreement or any other text, displayed at the link addition form.
Number of categories Maximum number of categories at a link adding form. The administrator can add a link to a greater number of categories. To perform it, one should fill in all the available fields of the categoties in the link editing mode and save it; then the editing form should be opened once more - an additional field fo a category selection will appear.
Full description Option allowing displaying "Full description" field at a link adding form.
Keywords Option which allows displaying "Keywords" field at a link adding form.
URL of a page containing a backward link Option which allows displaying "URL of a page containing a backward link" field at a link adding form.
Protection from automatic links submission (a picture with figures) The option is intended for blocking the possibility of links submission by robots. A picture with a set of figures is displayed in the addition form, which should be entered into the field to the right (see Link addition)."gd" library at the hosting provider's server is necessary for this option.
Black list of URLs The list of URLs which can not be added by user. One URL per line. You may specify a part of URL, for example .freehost.ru

Automatic links checking

The section contains automatic links checking settings. These settings are used for individual links checking and as default settings for checking by a filter. For details, please, refer to Links checking.


Links checking settings

Check the link efficiency A link is considered efficient in case it can be loaded or contains redirection to an available page.
Checking method There are two methods of checking a link efficiency - by means of sockets or with the help of file_get_contents() function. The first method is preferable, as it allows setting timeout for a site and defining redirection via headers ("Location: "). The second method is recommended only in case sockets handling is forbidden by the hosting provider.
Timeout for a site (sec) Timeout for a site can be set only for checking by means of sockets.
Maximum number of redirections The parameter defines maximum number of redirections from page to page; upon reaching it, the link checking is aborted (to avoid cycling).
Check backward link The function allows defining the presence of a link to the given address at the checked page. In case "URL with a backward link" field is specified for a link, then the backward link will be checked at this page. Otherwise, the backward link will be checked at the main resource address.
Check for URL in the tag
<a href="URL">...</a>
Checking a backward link for <a> tag with the given address. In case asterisk (*) is set at the end of the link, then links with random ending will be considered. For instance, "http://server.com/from.php?*" allows defining all backward links to the from.php script.
Check for HTML-code at a page Checking the defined HTML-code availability at the resource page, for instance, a banner code, a button code etc. Empty lines and spaces at the beginning and at the end of lines are not considered.
Get Google PageRank (PR) rating Google PageRank rating acquisition during links checking.
Get Yandex CY rating Yandex CY rating acquisition during links checking.
Timeout for checking script (php time limit) (sec) Timeout for links checking script (seconds); it functions only provided that set_time_limit() function execution is allowed at the hosting provider's server.
Number of checking results at a page Number of links in a batch, checked at a script call. Upon reaching the given number, checked page is refreshed and the script is performed anew.

Use search-friendly URL

These links to categories are displayed as follows: /prefix/sorting_order/category1/category2/..., for instance http://www.server.com/dir/pop/Computers/Software/.

Search-friendly links mode is available only provided that mod_rewrite module is set at the hosting provider's server.

Prefix for a link to a category

The option allows defining prefix for a link to a category: http://www.server.com/dir/pop/Computers/Software/.

Note: Upon changing this value one should also chance .htaccess file settings at the catalogue root directory:
RewriteRule ^dir/(.*) sefriendly.php

Prefixes of a link to a category for sorting (via comma: popularity, title, vote, date, PR, CY)")

The option allows defining links sorting order in a category: http://www.cat.com/dir/pop/Computers/Software/

Prefix values should be enumerated through comma in the following order: popularity, title, vote, date, PR, CY.

Default values: pop,ttl,mdr,pin,pr,cy

In case additional fields for a link description are necessary, one should indicate their names in this form.
